Hi, I’m Harold Whitfield, the person behind Pinochle Rules.
I’ve been playing Pinochle for most of my adult life — it started as a family game night tradition and turned into a genuine hobby. Along the way, I’ve taught more than a few newcomers how to play, and I noticed the same thing every time: most Pinochle rule explanations online are either too brief to actually be useful, or written assuming you already half-know the game.
That’s the gap this site is meant to fill.
Why This Site Exists
Pinochle has more moving parts than most card games — bidding, melding, and trick-taking all in the same hand — which means a rushed explanation leaves beginners more confused than when they started. Every guide on this site is written the way I’d actually explain the game to someone sitting across the table from me: plain language, real examples, and no assumed knowledge.
Whether you’re learning the standard 4-player partnership game for the first time, brushing up on bidding strategy, or trying to settle a rules dispute mid-game, my goal is that you find a clear answer here — not a wall of jargon.
What You’ll Find Here
- Complete rules, from dealing through scoring
- Every major variant, from Double-Deck to Auction Pinochle
- Strategy guides for bidding and general play
- A free printable cheat sheet to keep at the table
No jargon. No assumed knowledge. Just Pinochle, made simple.
